Why this one is different

Every other free compressor uploads your document to a server and asks you to trust a retention policy. This one has nothing to promise : the work happens on your machine, so there is no copy to keep.

Nothing is uploaded

The file is read straight from your disk into the page. Open your browser network tab and watch : no request is made.

Nothing is stored

We never receive the document, so there is no retention window, no deletion timer, and nothing of yours in a breach.

Works offline

Turn off your wifi and compress anyway. The whole tool is a few hundred kilobytes of code running in your tab.

How to compress a PDF

  1. Drop the PDF above, or click to pick it from your computer.
  2. Choose a level : Light for text documents, Balanced or Strong for scans and photo pages.
  3. Press Compress, then download. The file was never sent anywhere.

How much smaller will it get?

It depends entirely on what is inside the file, and any tool that promises a fixed percentage is guessing. Measured on real documents :

If a level would make your file bigger, you get the original back instead. This tool never hands you a worse PDF than the one you gave it.

Questions

Do you keep a copy of my file?

No. The file is never transmitted, so we have nothing to keep. You can check it yourself : open your browser devtools, go to the Network tab, and compress a document. No request is made.

Is there a file size limit?

No server means no upload cap. The practical limit is your device memory : a few hundred megabytes is fine on a laptop, less on an old phone.

My scan barely got smaller. Why?

Light mode is lossless : it rebuilds the file structure and strips metadata, which does little when nearly all the bytes are one big scanned image. Switch to Balanced or Strong, which re-render each page at a lower resolution. That is what actually shrinks a scan.

Is it really free?

Yes, and there is no account to create. It costs us nothing to run because it runs on your machine, not ours. What we sell is the workspace it comes from.
